Indeedy, that is a totally cool idea.

I love all these kinds of things. I already use bookcrossing and freecycle.

Anything that kicks commercialism square in the nuts is fine by me :D

Freecycle is generally good for getting rid of stuff, less good for getting stuff. I like the swap shop atmosphere of this place.
