Sad day in fishy world
Our eldest fish, Emaline, who was over a year old, sadly died yesterday. She had a long and fruitful life giving birth to countless generations of fishies who will continue to thrive in the tank in her honour.

Rest In Peace Emaline.

and so...
Well, I got a payrise last week and decided to buy myself a spanky new laptop. After some deliberation (ok none), I decided to go for one of these. It's 17", 1.67GHz G4 processor, 1GB Ram, 80GB Hard disk and it's all mine! (Or rather it will be soon). It was dispatched the other day and my tracking numbers didn't seem to make sense and kept telling me it had been delivered to Reading in September 2004, which confused me somewhat. I gave Apple a call and they told me the powerbook is in Shanghai where it will be flown to Amsterdam today, to be picked up by TNT and I should be able to track it via TNT by Monday. HURRAH!

(It's all [info]gymli's fault. Pointing out OSX's superiority over Windows and even Linux ;)

What the hell?
Having long been an advocate of the 'people suck' philosophy, this really proves it.

People are bitching that their plans are ruined, or their lives are ruined because a few gigs have been cancelled. Sure, it's annoying and I was pissed off a bit too, but to go on the message board - which I believe the guy actually reads - and to slag him off just because he cancelled the gigs is a bit off if you ask me. Surely, it's better to go on the forum, and send him wishes to get well, rather than bitch that you'll have to slightly change your plans? Maybe it's just me?

alzheimer's test
I just did an alzheimer's test on www.cdr.org.uk and got the following:

These are your age normalised results: 11/11/2004 1:47:08 PM

Sorry, though the tests were completed, your results do not enable us to give you any reliable feedback. You would be welcome to try the tests again on another day.

Please accept that this is not a controlled testing situation, and these test results cannot indicate whether or not you are in good health.

Whatever does this mean?

Dang dang dang
Sometimes I really hate LiveJournal. It just ate my post, which means I now have to spend time remembering what i wrote as well as remembering what I was going to write and remembering how to spell convalescing.... sheesh

Anyway, I've caught a cold. It's not too bad today, but yesterday it was hideous. [info]beccus kindly phoned in sick for me and I spent the day at home convalescing (read: watching films and sleeping).

I managed to watch:
- Lethal Weapon 2 - good, action film. Was that Patsy Kensit in it?
- Fahrenheit 9/11 - been meaning to watch this for a while, finally got round to it. It's really quite worrying the amount of nepotism and back-slapping that goes in within American politics particularly by that dumb redneck Bush.
- Secret Window - good film, slightly in the mould of Fight Club. I fell asleep and missed the end, anyone know what happens?

Gonna have to knuckle down and get on with this project I'm doing at work. Got about 2 weeks left, may have to start working on it at home too :(

Anyways, best get back to it.

Cya!

Edit: took me three attempts to get this right

Waiting.....
We're having a freezer delivered today. Why can they never be specific about the times? GRRR. All I can do is sit here and wait, and wait until they turn up.

Grr.

General Update
So, hows things....

Generally things are good: flat is good, pretty much gotten into routine of washing things, emptying things, paying things, cooking things and so on. Still not quite gotten used to getting up early and getting to work on time, which is odd, since I am now theoretically closer.

Work is fairly ok, the website I'm doing is just challenging enough to be interesting but not difficult enough to make it annoyingly difficult. Still wish I got paid more but can't see that happening any time.

Anyway, update over.

Bleh!
